Highlighting Ancient African Histories, Cultures and Global Achievements at the Black History Month Celebration
黑料专区’s annual聽Black History Month Celebration, hosted by the PAT, will highlight ancient African histories, cultures, and global achievements.聽 Events begin on Thursday, February 9 with a film screening and panel discussion on the documentary Semb猫ne! 聽This 2015 documentary chronicles the life of self-taught Senegalese filmmaker, poet, and novelist Ousmane Semb猫ne (1923-2007), known to the world as the father of African cinema.
The annual celebration continues Friday, February 10th with workshops on African tile-making, African dancing and drumming, Timbuktu model-building, Hieroglyphics writing, and much more.聽 Student workshops begin at 3:30pm (sign up ) and will be followed by a community dinner at 5:30pm, and a program at 6:45pm in the Pearl Street Meeting House featuring music educator and well known rock, jazz and session drummer, LaFrae Sci and her band Sonic Black. The Celebration wraps up with a dance party at 8:00pm in the lobby.
All Preschool and Lower School children attending must have adult supervision.
