Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month Closes with Fiesta
After a month filled with celebration of Latinx identities and Hispanic Heritage in BFS’ class rooms, on stage, in our readings, and much more鈥攖he joyous month came to a close on Friday evening, when Head of School, Crissy C谩ceres, proudly welcomed more then 250 friends to our community dinner. It was certainly a fiesta to remember!
The event featured incredible music from Los Pleneros de la 21, the Grammy-nominated East Harlem-based ensemble and non-profit community organization. Los Pleneros de la 21 delivered the sounds and sights of traditional Puerto Rican music and turned the third floor commons into a true concert space. All of the children were also turned into band members and dancing鈥攜es, let’s just say there was dancing! There was also outstanding cuisine from three local businesses鈥擲ophie’s Cuban, Tacombi, and Petisco Brazuca.
At the start of the event, the crowd was the first in our community to see a special screening of a video celebrating our Latinx/HH colleagues.聽 Please enjoy this to so many of our terrific BFS colleagues!
This fiesta was an example of true BFS partnership between the office of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging鈥攍ed by Dr. AnaMaria Correa鈥攁nd our Brooklyn Friends and Family DEB Committee. Muchas Gracias to all!
