DAY-OF-THE-DEAD-TANKA

Today in Spanish class we talked about Day of the Dead, which is celebrated in in all Spanish speaking countries – but in M茅xico聽they take it to a whole new level!聽On November 1st and 2nd Mexicans remember their loved ones that have passed away. Families prepare “la ofrenda” in their homes by setting a table with objects, food, beverages, marigold flowers, sugar skulls, special bread, candles and other elements that remind them of the “muerto” that they want to honor. The next day, the celebration moves to the cemeteries where relatives spend the night singing and eating with candles and objects from “la ofrenda” to say good bye to their “muertos” until the next Day of the Dead. 聽This is a happy holiday for the entire family.
